We know every little bit helps. That’s why we created the TXU Energy Assistance Program, which waives late penalty fees and deposit installments for qualified customers in need.
Who qualifies for these benefits?
If you receive Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) or Medicaid, you're eligible. To apply for SNAP or Medicaid, contact your local Texas Department of Health and Human Services office.
When do the benefits start?
Be sure to use the same name that’s on your SNAP or Medicaid application on your electricity account – then you’ll automatically get the energy assistance benefits. It may take up to two billing cycles before you see the benefits kick in.
What other bill payment assistance is available?
If you or someone you know needs help paying their electricity bill, call 2-1-1 for the Texas Information and Referral Network or visit 211texas.org. They can also refer you to a local agency that works with TXU Energy Aid – one of the largest bill-payment assistance programs in the country.
