TXU Energy announced today that it has hired Carl S. Richie, Jr. to head its Austin-based governmental affairs group.
Prior to joining TXU Energy, Richie ran his own law firm representing major Texas municipalities and several energy and customer focused companies before Texas legislative and regulatory bodies. He has nearly three decades of experience working in state government or representing clients.
"We are confident that Carl will champion our customer-based initiatives in Austin with a fresh perspective," said Jim Burke, Chief Executive Officer, TXU Energy. "His depth of knowledge into the workings of the legislature, coupled with his understanding of energy issues in general, will ultimately best serve our customers."
Richie will begin on June 2, 2008, and will be based in Austin. He received his B.S. in 1981 from the Texas A&M at Commerce and his J.D. in 1989 from the University of Houston Law Center. In addition to representing major matters before the legislature, Richie has held several government posts, including Deputy Chief of Staff to Governor Ann Richards. He has served in several civic roles in Austin, including as Chairman of the Housing Authority for the City of Austin, Chairman of the Board of Managers for the Travis County Health Care District, and the Board of Directors of the Greater Austin Chamber of Commerce.
