4/30/2025

HOUSTON, Texas —

TXU Energy today announced its recognition of four Houston-area companies as category winners in the 2025 TXU Energy Leadership Award Program. This program highlights corporate and non-profit leaders who define energy responsibility. The awards were announced in conjunction with the TXU Energy Summit held today in Houston.

“TXU Energy is proud to recognize the 2025 Energy Leadership Award winners,” said Gabe Castro, senior vice president of business markets at TXU Energy. “These leaders exemplify what it means to drive meaningful progress—through innovative, forward-thinking solutions that serve as a model for their peers, and through a deep commitment to community service that continues to inspire people all across South Texas."

The four South Texas-area winners include:

Leadership in Energy Management – SeAH Steel USA

SeAH Steel USA has set a best-in-class standard in the South Texas region through its innovative energy management strategies. By installing a strobe system and utilizing the TXU Energy Dashboard to monitor real-time market conditions, SeAH Steel has effectively curtailed power usage when energy prices cross a predetermined threshold. SeAH’s commitment to trialing the RTSPP system with two meters over a six-month period, followed by a successful renewal and expansion of the program to two additional meters, exemplifies their dedication to sustainable and efficient energy practices.

SeAH Steel USA leads in energy management and manufacturing excellence. Its one-stop system, encompassing the entire process from steelmaking to processing, ensures high-quality production and significant reductions in product wait time. With a robust vision to anticipate customer needs and a mission to excel in the North American Oil and Gas market, SeAH Steel USA has consistently demonstrated industry leadership.

Leadership in Engagement - Corpus Christi Regional Economic Development Corporation (CCREDC)

The Corpus Christi Regional Economic Development Corporation (CCREDC) has played a pivotal role in transforming the Corpus Christi region into a thriving economic hub. CCREDC has significantly contributed to job creation, generating thousands of positions across diverse sectors such as energy, manufacturing, and technology. In 2023, their strategic engagement attracted major investments, leading to the addition of over 3,500 jobs, strengthening the local economy and supply chain.

CCREDC also champions entrepreneurship and workforce development by collaborating with universities and vocational schools, equipping a skilled workforce for emerging industries. Their approach to improving regional infrastructure includes partnerships with local, state, and federal bodies to help implement projects such as the $350 million upgrade to the Port of Corpus Christi, helping the region remain competitive. TXU Energy is proud to acknowledge CCREDC’s leadership in engaging and growing the region.

Leadership in Innovation – University of Houston

The University of Houston’s multi-year contract with TXU Energy is a testament to innovation and excellence, ensuring that all four university campuses, instructional sites, and athletic facilities are powered efficiently and reliably, meeting the needs of more than 75,000 students. This leading-edge agreement goes beyond basic service; it represents a strategic investment in the University of Houston's future. In addition to the multi-year contract, TXU Energy’s commitment of $370,000 in scholarships focused on energy and STEM education over the next decade underscores both parties’ role and dedication in shaping the next generation of leaders and innovators.

Leadership in Community – St. Vincent’s House

St. Vincent’s House has been an invaluable Energy Aid partner, providing vital support to approximately 1,000 customers with $175,000 in bill payment assistance funding over the past five years. Through partnering with TXU Energy on impactful programs like Beat The Heat and Winter Warmth, St. Vincent’s House has consistently gone above and beyond to support the community, providing 600 box fans over the past three years and distributing 250 turkeys and Thanksgiving food boxes in 2024.

St. Vincent’s House is a shining example of community leadership, and TXU Energy is honored to recognize and celebrate its achievements.
