Sometimes, we may ask customers to pay an electricity deposit based on their bill paying history. Deposits help keep electricity rates down, and our flexible payment options mean you don’t have to wait to start service.

You can also rest easy knowing we’ll refund 100% of your deposit plus interest after one year of on-time bill payments. Interest is earned at a rate set by the Public Utility commission, which means after that year is up, you’ll get a bill credit for the amount of your deposit plus the money it earned.

Deposit Assistance

If you’re worried about paying an electricity deposit upfront, we can work with you to find a payment option that fits your needs, like splitting the payment into two equal installments. We may even waive electricity deposits for certain customers, including if:

• You’re 55 or older
• You’re a victim of family violence and provide a prescribed letter
• You’re medically indigent and provide proof of your status

Personal Guarantee Deposit Option

If you don’t qualify for electricity deposit assistance, you have the option of establishing a personal guarantee agreement. So, instead of paying a cash deposit, you can ask a current TXU Energy customer whose account is current and not in collections to be your guarantor. If you don’t pay your bills on time, your guarantor will be responsible for paying that deposit amount.
