Enhances Mobile App for iPhone® to Support Energy Savings and Arms On-the-Go Customers with Personal Usage Information to Help Cut Consumption and Costs
It’s here. It’s now. And, it’s on your iPhone®. It’s the TXU Energy iPhone® app, and it now offers real world insights to help you track your electricity usage and costs. The information helps you reduce your energy consumption and, ultimately, your monthly bill – before you get it each month. It’s available for free to all TXU Energy customers, who are only two taps away from details that can help them save electricity and money on their monthly bills.
The app now provides users with smart meters a snapshot of their electricity consumption and costs in each billing cycle and an estimate of their upcoming monthly bill, based on their actual usage. In addition the app allows users to pay bills, choose payment options, and compare the details of recent bills. The information is available to customers automatically when they access the app.
These same features and more are also available to TXU Energy customers online via the TXU Energy MyEnergy DashboardSM. Like the app, the online dashboard is automatically provided to customers when they access their accounts. It reports historical electricity usage and cost and allows them to compare elements of two bills, including the number of days, billing cycle, total current charges, billed usage and outdoor temperature. For customers with smart meters, the online tool also provides forecasted electricity usage and cost and expands reporting to include graphs showing electricity usage, costs, and outdoor temperatures by year, month, week and day.

According to the State of Texas’ Electric Choice Education Program, research shows that, when provided the right information in a timely manner, consumers are inclined to take action and modify their electricity consumption.
The app can be downloaded for free through the Apple® App Store. For customers already using the app, the expanded functionality will appear after their next update. Access to the App Store requires an iTunes® account. In addition to offering the download via the App Store for free, TXU Energy charges no fees to use the app for paying bills and other services. It also provides instant auto-sync between customers’ iPhones and their online TXU Energy accounts, so that any changes they make via the app are automatically reflected in their online accounts and vice versa.
