TXU Energy Free NightsSM

I’m on a TXU Energy Free Nights plan, but my TXU Energy MyEnergy DashboardSM doesn’t show $0 for nighttime usage.
In order to give you a better look into your own usage patterns and costs, we designed the TXU Energy MyEnergy DashboardSM so that it calculates your current and forecasted cost using the average price per kWh from your last bill. That average price was calculated using your daytime and your $0 nighttime energy charge, as well as any fees and surcharges that were included on your last bill. Because it uses an average price, the $0 cost for nighttime hours won’t be visible on your dashboard, but you can see the $0 energy charge for usage between 10 p.m. and 6 a.m. on your bill.

This is my first month on a TXU Energy Free Nights plan. When I checked my TXU Energy MyEnergy DashboardSM, it shows a higher projected bill than last month. Does MyEnergy Dashboard take into consideration the free Energy Charges at night?
The forecasted costs shown on MyEnergy Dashboard are calculated using an average price per kWh and the usage from your last bill. Since you’ve been on a TXU Energy Free Nights plan less than one month, the new rates aren’t reflected in your dashboard yet.

Why doesn’t the information provided in MyEnergy Dashboard match my electricity bill exactly?
MyEnergy Dashboard calculations are based on historical usage and average price based on your previous electricity bills. If you have a smart meter, the information provided in the Cost & Usage Summary section won’t match your bill exactly, but it’ll be fairly close, which can help you budget better and eliminate month-end surprises on your electricity bill. For specific calculation information, just click on the information icon in the Cost & Usage section of your MyEnergy Dashboard.

When viewing my TXU Energy MyEnergy DashboardSM, does the total kWh used include the amount of energy used during the hours when my Energy Charges are free?

How can I view my kWh usage during the free period (from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m.)?
You can view how much electricity you’re using during the free period by logging into your MyAccount or MyEnergy Dashboard and going to your Usage Graph. If you hover on a particular spot on the graph, you can see what percentage of your usage in kWh was free.

How do I see the cost for my electricity usage during the free Energy Charge period?
The best way to see the cost for your electricity usage during the free Energy Charge period is to look on your bill. Your Usage Graphs in MyAccount and TXU Energy MyEnergy DashboardSM show your cost using the average price per kWh from your last bill, so costs for an individual time period won’t be visible on these graphs.

How is the “Percent Free Energy Charge” calculated?
Based on your kWh usage, the percentage used between 10 p.m. and 6 a.m. is calculated as a percentage of your entire energy usage for the day. For example, let’s say you used 60 kWh during the 24-hour period. And your usage during the free Energy Charge period (from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m.) is 6 kWh. The “Percent Free Energy Charge” is 10%.

Since your current and forecasted cost is calculated using the average price per kWh from your last bill (which includes both your daytime rate and the free Energy Charge rate from 10 p.m – 6 a.m.), the $0 Energy Charges for the free nighttime hours won’t be visible on your dashboard. You can, however, see the $0 Energy Charge for usage between 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. on your bill.

In the TXU Energy MyEnergy DashboardSM, does the cost view show the “Free Energy Charge”?

Because it uses an average price, the $0 cost for nighttime hours won’t be visible on your dashboard, but you can see the $0 Energy Charge for usage between 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. on your bill.

The total monthly kilowatt-hour usage (Billed Usage) on your monthly invoice is provided by the TDU. Usage for each time-of-day billing period (Free Nights) is determined from interval data from your advanced meter, and is also provided by the TDU. If there is a difference between the total monthly kWh usage and the sum of each time-of-day billing period, the difference will be proportionately allocated to each interval value to match the usage on your bill.
