Monetize Existing Energy Assets
TXU Energy can help qualified participants earn extra revenue through our Emergency Response Service (ERS) demand response program. By participating in this program, you are helping ensure grid reliability and reducing the probability of rolling blackouts.
Receive an expert analysis of your business' unique operation and take control of your electricity usage with an industry-leading suite of Web-based tools designed to maintain and continually refine energy management.
How the Program Works:
- Based on previously accepted bids, participants who agreed to reduce load by 100kW earned approximately $50k per 4-month contract period. Payments are made for capacity whether a curtailment event is called or not.
- TXU Energy will work with you to identify available load and determine a curtailment strategy to meet your business' requirements. Participants select the number of curtailment hours and negotiate a price for the load based on the time of year. If the bid is accepted, a four-month contract is signed.
- Events can be called at any time, but will only be called in case of emergency. Typically, events will only last 2 to 3 hours and are limited to 2 events per 4-month contract period. Historically, there have only been 2 rolling blackouts in the past 20 years. Therefore, being called upon has been a rare occurrence.
- Program administered by ERCOT with, potentially, no cost of entry to participate.
