About Variable Rates

Sobre planes de tarifa variables

There's a new kind of electricity plan in town that's not very Texas-friendly. It's a variable rate plan and TXU Energy doesn't even sell it. You should know what to look out for, though.

Read about your provider. If you aren't a TXU Energy customer or if you are, but have been tempted by those low "introductory-price plans" promoted by other providers, we're here to tell you that they aren't usually as simple as they sound.

In fact, in many cases, those low price plans are variable rate plans which can change before you know it. They're like teaser rates - you sign up, then after just one bill, they can go up.

If you're on a variable rate plan your provider can:

  • change your rate at their sole discretion and at any time
  • change your rate without advance warning to you
  • change your rate by as much as they want on most plans

Worse yet, you may only learn about it when your bill arrives - after you've already used the electricity at that higher rate!

Don't worry; TXU Energy doesn't have any variable rate plans.

What we do have are plans with guaranteed price protection, 100% renewable energy options and cash back loyalty rewards. Plus they're backed by the TXU Energy Total Satisfaction Guarantee. Our plans have straightforward pricing with transparent terms that you can understand, because we believe that a well-informed customer is a customer for life. You can count on TXU Energy to notify you in advance if anything changes with your plan.  So choose the TXU Energy plan that's right for you. And stop worrying about your electricity rate every month.
