What is the TXU Energy Spending ForecasterTM?

The Spending ForecasterTM is an online tool available to all BrightenSM iThermostat customers and can be found when you log into the Web portal.  The tool helps customers find the ideal balance between personal comfort and cost.

The Spending ForecasterTM allows customers to better understand their projected 30-day cooling and heating expense.  Most importantly, it shows customers, in dollars, how changes in programmed temperatures can impact monthly cooling and heating expense.

Is the Spending ForecasterTM easy to use?

Yes.  The Spending ForecasterTM is easy to use and an online video tutorial is available to help customers get the most out of the feature.  Customers can also contact the
BrightenSM iThermostat Customer Service Center at 1-877-733-1807 for assistance.

Does the Spending ForecasterTM work if I have more than one thermostat in my home?

Yes.  The Spending ForecasterTM can be applied to any BrightenSM iThermostat installed in the customer?s home.  The Forecasted Cost value, however, is the 30-day expense related only to the individual thermostat and associated program selected at that time.

Will the Spending ForecasterTM work if my gateway is disconnected?

Yes.  You will be able to estimate 30 day cooling and heating expenses associated with a change in programmed temperature.  You will not be able to send these new program changes to your BrightenSM iThermostat until the gateway is connected.

Why does the Forecasted Cost change when I log into the BrightenSM iThermostat Web portal?

The Forecasted Cost value is based upon the next 30 days and starts with the current day as day 1.  Each time you log in to the BrightenSM iThermostat Web portal the 30 day period will shift and new weather conditions will impact monthly cost estimates.

Will my 30 day Forecasted Cost equal my actual monthly electric expense?

No.  Cooling and heating expenses typically represent about 55% of total electricity expenses.  In addition, actual weather conditions and any changes to your programmed temperature settings - such as putting your thermostat on hold or randomly increasing and decreasing the temperature settings - will impact actual expenses.

Why doesn?t the Spending Forecaster? appear when I log into the Web portal?

You must have the latest version of Adobe Flash loaded on your computer.  Additionally, you need to have values added to your profiles for both gas and electric.  For assistance with accessing the Spending Forecaster?, please contact customer service at 1-866-733-1807.
