Michael Carter

TXU Energy


Michael Carter is the chief financial officer for TXU Energy, a competitive retail business which serves more than 2 million residential, commercial and industrial customers. TXU Energy is a subsidiary of Energy Future Holdings Corp. (EFH)

Carter was promoted to CFO in June 2008. His team provides strong and broad financial leadership to the company and is responsible for the company's accounting, planning, risk management/controls, load forecasting and energy procurement functions.

Prior to joining TXU Energy, Carter was vice president and controller for Luminant, the competitive power generation subsidiary of EFH. Previously, as the company's assistant controller, business development for EFH, he played a leading role in the closing of TXU Corp's sale to private investors led by KKR, TPG and Goldman Sachs.

Before joining EFH, Carter was director, transaction services with KPMG, where he provided financial due diligence and technical accounting advice to clients in several industries. Prior to KPMG, he worked for companies in the deregulated energy business.

Carter is a graduate of Louisiana State University in Shreveport earning a bachelor's degree in accounting. He is a certified public accountant.
