Don Smith is vice president of customer operations for TXU Energy, a subsidiary of Energy Future Holdings Corp. He is a strong customer advocate who is driven to deliver world-class customer care by applying technology to deliver value-creating customer services.
Smith's core responsibilities include customer care and call center sales, billing and payments as well as credit and collections. He was recruited in 2005 to oversee the outsourced operations of the company. Smith has spent the past three years working to internalize operations back to TXU Energy and on the implementation of a new operating platform based on SAP.
Prior to joining TXU Energy, Smith was the chief operating officer for Gexa Energy where he was responsible for customer operations and information technology. Previously, Smith was employed at Reliant Energy and its predecessor, Houston Lighting & Power Company for 22 years. During his tenure with Reliant/HL&P, Smith served in numerous customer roles in the regulated business and spent his last several years in the regulated business preparing for deregulation in Texas.
Smith holds a bachelor's degree in business administration from the University of Texas at Austin.
