Jim Burke

Chairman and Chief Executive Officer
TXU Energy

Jim Burke has been the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of TXU Energy since August 2005, after leading fundamental change in the company's marketing and operations as Senior Vice President of Consumer Markets since 2004.


Before assuming his leadership role at TXU Energy, Burke was President and Chief Operating Officer of Gexa Energy - a startup that was acquired by FPL in 2004 - and prior to that he was Senior Vice President of Consumer Operations with Reliant Energy.

Though he's spent the past seven years in deregulated electricity, Burke worked for The Coca-Cola Company for six years, presiding over the expansion of its juice business in Latin America, South Africa, and Hong Kong. He came to Coca-Cola from Deloitte & Touche Consulting, where he was a management consultant.

Burke is a graduate of Tulane University, having earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics and a Master of Business Administration degree in Finance and General Management. He is a licensed Certified Public Accountant as well as a Chartered Financial Analyst.
