TXU Energy knows making ends meet is a daily struggle for many Texans on low and fixed incomes. Weather extremes are especially dangerous times in Texas because they increase people’s need for air conditioning or heat. This results in higher electric bills that some families simply can’t afford. Because of unforeseen financial hardship, people in our communities may choose to do without air conditioning or heat so they can pay for their other basic but also essential needs. We don’t think anyone should ever have to make such a choice.
 That is why TXU Energy Aid was developed – to provide temporary bill payment assistance to thousands of families in critical situations each year. Using the contributions made by TXU Energy and its generous customers, social service agencies across Texas administer the funds to families right in your community. Since 1983, TXU Energy Aid has provided more than $40 million in bill payment assistance, helping over 300,000 families in need.
We’ve been happy with the success so far, but we’re not stopping there. In 2007, TXU Energy announced it is contributing $5 million per year for the next five years to the TXU Energy Aid program.
You, too, can participate in this vital program. Rest assured knowing 100% of your donation goes to families in need – in particular to families in your own community.
There are three ways you can help make a difference:
- Your TXU Energy bill. Fill out the form on the back of your bill. Or, watch for and fill out one of our periodic bill inserts. You can submit it with your bill payment.
- E-mail. Send an email to the Customer Advocacy Group. Be sure to include name, address, day-time phone number, electric account number and the amount of your desired recurring monthly or one-time donation in the email.
- Call. Follow the voice prompts on our toll-free number, 1-877-281-6359.
